Fuel station construction in Liberia, on the RIA Highway
Fuel station construction in Liberia from the ground up: King Sign & Design built the Determine Petroleum station at Duazon Market on the Roberts International Airport Highway — a working forecourt with a covered pump canopy, alongside a two-storey commercial building fronting the road.
The project ran from design through to completion. Work covered the reinforced concrete structure of the main building, the steel canopy over the pump islands, forecourt paving and drainage, aluminum glazing and curtain walling across the frontage, external cladding, and the finishes that give the station its identity on the highway.
A fuel station has to function as a building and as a piece of roadside advertising at the same time. The orange structural columns and the glazed frontage were designed to be read at highway speed, while the commercial floor above gives the owner lettable space on a site that would otherwise only earn from fuel.
